APGAR scores are a way to determine how at baby is doing at birth. APGAR Scores were intented by Virginia Apgar. The APGAR score is made up of 5 different assessments of the baby: Breathing, Heartrate, Color, Muscle Tone and Movement. Each of the five assessments can be given up to two points. A perfect APGAR score is 10. An APGAR score below six can indicate a possible problem, for example the baby may be suffering from or have suffered from hypoxia, or lack of oyxgen.
