“I was involved in a traffic accident, but I know that the other driver ran the stop sign. Why did I get the ticket? What can I do about it?” I can’t tell you how many times we are asked that question. Let me make something clear at the very beginning — the fact that you got a ticket does not mean that you cannot prevail in a lawsuit if the other driver ran the stop sign. Remember, the policeman who issued the ticket was not there at the wreck. He talked to people at the scene and decided to give you the ticket. Just because you got the ticket does not mean that you can’t successfully pursue a lawsuit against the other driver if they were at fault.
