What is Birth Asphyxia?

Birth Asphyxia means deprived of oxygen at birth.  This is a  medical condition where the baby has been deprived of oxygen during labor and delivery.

Birth Asphyxia is usually diagnosed first by the APGAR scores and also by the measurement of the Cord Blood Gases.  Later,  an MRI is often done to determine the extent of hypoxic damage to the brain.
